Contraceptive Implant Insertion
What Is a Contraceptive Implant?
The contraceptive implant is a small, flexible plastic rod inserted just beneath the skin of your upper arm that is the size of a matchstick.
Once fitted, it releases a steady dose of progestogen to prevent pregnancy.
The implant works quietly in the background. You don't need to remember a daily pill, schedule monthly appointments, or interrupt your routine.
If your goal is reliable, long-term contraception, the implant offers one of the highest levels of protection available. It is a safe option for women who are unsuitable or combine the method. For example, women who are breastfeeding, women with high BMI or high blood pressure or migraines suffer.
